Are you on the hunt for fundraising ideas for nonprofit groups? Then, you’re in the right place. In this post, we’re sharing fundraising ideas to give your nonprofit the financial boost it needs.
Fundraising Ideas for Nonprofit Groups
Educating your donor
In the cultivation of your donors, there are a number of ways to engage them with your organization. This helps them learn more about the programs and people that make you successful in the betterment of society, in whatever facet that may be.
Hosting a meet-and-greet with program staff or participants from your programs, either virtually or in-person, allows donors to learn more and from different points of view.
Bringing your donor into community
It’s important to be in constant contact with your donors. Keep it personal and create space for discussion about donors’ interests and perspectives. Based on these conversations, you can personally introduce them to other members of your organization they may have shared interests with.
Creating space for an invitation
When you’re having a conversation with a donor you think might be willing to increase their gift to your organization, it’s important to first ask for their opinion on your organizational plans and future projects. Then, give your donor the space for reflection. It’s best to invite them for a conversation at a future date to discuss increasing their gift. Allowing them to consider, on their own time, what that gift could be.
Tips for Successfully Increasing your Giving Program
If you’re planning your next steps for your nonprofit and don’t know where to begin, start here:
Send a Thank you Video
We always talk about thanking every donor personally. Sometimes that seems like a tall order. Consider a thank you video from wherever you are. Walking back from a lunch meeting? Take a video on your phone and email it off to your donor. You’ll be surprised by the reaction—it’s personal, it’s sincere, and it’s a face-to-face thank you.
Follow-up with Lapsed Donors
First, retaining and motivating existing donors costs less than acquiring new donors. Comb your list and find out which donors you haven’t heard from in a few months. Reach out to them and ask them if they would like to join your newsletter or hear about your volunteer opportunities. You can send a survey and ask them why they are no longer giving and what might convince them to give again. Don’t be afraid to ask.
Every type of lapsed donor will require a different stewardship plan.
It’s time to resume face-to-face donor meetings and events
Nonprofit leaders anticipate a strong 2022 fundraising year, with 70% having resumed face-to-face donor meetings or events as of November 2021, and a similar percentage (69%) anticipating a bump in major gifts, according to Philanthropy Pulse.
